Hello People:
Blogging two days in a row - I know shocking! But, I'm in my pjs watching CNN on New Year's Day and the ticker on the bottom of the screen just read "Sudanese president says he'll accept results of referendum" "Italy to ban plastic bags" and "North Korea calls for more dialogue amidst tensions."
Wow. Maybe 2010 really is over?
Since my last blog of 2010 was dedicated to Sudan, I couldn't believe my eyes when I read the ticker this morning ... I have more hope that southern and northern Sudan won't go to war in the next few days. Of course, that still doesn't resolve the hundreds of thousands of displaced Sudanese from the Darfur region or the crimes committed against them... but, for today, for now, I will be glad to witness a lack of escalation for the worse.
Have you ever noticed how there is so much information in the tickers on the bottom of news screens? My brain doesn't even realize that it is reading and not listening or watching the actual news. Ah... the 21st Century.
And... for "no plastic bags" - love it! Maybe there is a U.S. state that could do that?
Post-New Year's Eve blog posting guilt: I have to admit that I thought things like "Oh no. I only said I was praying for Africa." Trust me People, I know you don't know me very well, but just to clarify: I am "praying" for everyone everywhere - wherever there is suffering of any kind, in any degree. Not just the starving children in Africa :)
Okay - time to put away my holiday decorations. This year I seem to want to put them away quickly, some years they stay up longer.
Smile at at least one stranger today - while looking them in the eyes,
Veronique
